Here is a glimpse at our winter party!  First off, we live in Florida, so the idea of snowmen and snow is always loads of fun.  To our Northern neighbors that are frequently bombarded with snow, it may not have the same magical quality, but snowmen crafts are always cute!!

The first activity of our winter party was this awesome, free snowman glyph.

The kids liked this activity – it was fun to see how each snowman was different!

Next, we made Star Wars snowflakes

This was awesome!  I am not even a Star Wars fan, but thoroughly enjoyed trying to cut out these intricate patterns.  You can download the entire collection or simply print the ones you want.

Let me warn you – some of these are rather challenging.  Kids scissors are nearly impossible.  Craft scissors are better, but what you really need is scissors that are small, sharp and able to do details or an Exacto knife.  The better ones we have pictured were done with a small, sharp set of scissors (Leia was done with regular scissors – impossible to get the details).  Unless there is a trick I am unaware of – normally, to cut insides, you just fold the paper and cut the hole or shape out of the middle.  But you cut out a circle and then fold it again and again until it is way too thick to fold again to try to cut insides.  Despite all of this, it was loads of fun and the snowflakes turned out pretty good (in my opinion).  I just want you to have realistic expectations.

Our last activity was making marshmallow snowmen.

We gave them a choice between using mini marshmallows to make a snowman on paper or using large marshmallows on skewers.  They chose the skewers.  We used colored gel frosting and mini M & M s to decorate – yummy fun!

So have some winter fun no matter what the weather outside is like!

    • I say we switch one winter!… actually, Montana is one of our first stops at Drive Me Crazy Family Adventure. Well, sort of. We are going to start heading that way in April so we can spend the summer at Glacier National Park. Very excited!

  1. My oldest would have skipped it all in order to make his marshmallow snowflake!! He is a marshmallow lover. And those snowflakes are awesome!! My favorite is the storm troopers.
