Oh boy, I am in trouble!  I have found waaaay too many great ideas on Pinterest.  In fact, I have two boards you could check out – June holidays and Summer Ideas!  I hope you enjoy them both.

In years past we have done a summer party, but never focused on Summer Solstice. In the first book of the Percy Jackson series Percy has to return the lightning bolt to Zeus before the Summer Solstice.  So, when I thought of the first day of summer as the Summer Solstice I immediately thought of Percy Jackson ~ my kids LOVE the series!  I might have to try and find a way to incorporate that with a summer party…

There are a lot of fun crafts to do for the summer solstice.  My personal favorite is this paper sun ~ super easy. The kids can do most of it by themselves and it can be made with supplies you likely have around the house.

I also love the idea of summer bucket list cards to help visually check off the fun things you do over the summer, or display the things you hope to do!  Ours is hanging in the dining room so we can see it all the time.  My kids had a lot of fun making the cards and were shocked at the thought that we might actually DO these things!

To make this easier, I have made cards for you to print.  I made one page with words and pictures, and a blank sheet so your children can draw their own pictures.

These are all such great ideas! Love the Summer Bucket List idea! I will have to make some of those with my son so we can have a few activities planned.

My kids are going to love these activities! Since it’ll be a busy summer with lots of travel we need things we can do on the go.

I love the summer solstice because it is light out so late. But from that day on the days start getting shorter again. You would think that the summer solstice should me in mid-summer, not the first day.

Those are some great ideas for June and the Summer Solstice. I’ll have to keep Percy Jackson in mind for a film at our youth group’s overnight on the Summer Solstice. They usually stay up ALL night and watch films for part of it.
