Ever wonder… Just how does our government work?

I think back to Saturday morning cartoons…. and the little “Bill” ….”sitting on Capitol Hill.”

Funny how things come back to you…

For our newest study, the kids and I have been reading How the U.S. Government Works.

It’s book two in part of a wonderful little three book series dealing with our government, the constitution, and our presidents.

In How the U.S. Government Works, we are taught how a bill becomes a law, what is the president’s cabinet, and how one of congress’ main jobs is keeping a balanced budget. This little book is so full of information and is very easy to understand. It’s suitable for any school age child to read. I might even say its such a great book of knowledge even an adult or an older high school student would get a lot out of it- I sure did!

As with the first book I reviewed, this book is illustrated so perfectly that as you read, you can look to the pictures and see everything the author is trying to teach you; completely diagrammed out. Another great feature in all these books is the fact that they have a glossary and an index at the back of each. Excellent for cross referencing any topic!

I am very excited to finish the final book in this series this week with my kids… Presidential Elections… How fitting to be learning these subjects during a major presidential election year! Check back for a full review on the third book and my thoughts regarding the complete set!
