When my husband stayed home after baby Jillian was born, he was so disappointed about going back to work. He felt like he was going to miss out on everything and how unfair it was that he had to leave us. Nobody understood this more than me.
I remember accepting a job outside of the home shortly after our middle child was born. On Monday morning I got up, took my shower, put on a new dress suit, and was prepared to go…. until my kids got out of bed. After that, I lost it, cried in our bathroom for over an hour and called the firm to say “I can’t do this after all”. I just couldn’t bring myself to go.
So, how can I ask my husband to do the same thing?
During those few days home with our new baby we tossed around a few ideas and decided that we didn’t have the clarity to make a decision. The only thing we could agree on was – we needed to get him home with us!
While we still aren’t exactly sure what he is going to do long-term, we have decided that he would take an early retirement and leave his job in law enforcement and we will ROADSCHOOL for the next year… or so.
What is Roadschooling?
Roadschooling is when you educate your children while traveling. This is something that can be done fulltime, part-time, or while on a vacation. We have opted for fulltime roadschooling for as long as we are able. (I think this is the scariest thing we have ever tried!)
On the Road
While we are out an about on the road, one thing I wanted to do is meet all of you! That’s right, I want meet you and your homeschooling group. Since we won’t have a group of our own while we are on the road, I want to stop in an allow my little ones to have a park day, field trip, or other activity with your homeschooling group. While I’m there, I would also like to get to know you, what you love about homeschooling, and what homeschooling is like in your home state!
Additionally, if I know I will be in a certain area, I will also be contacting groups in the area while I am there. Please don’t be alarmed – I am a real homeschooling mom who has no intentions of judging your homeschooling methods or portraying your group in a negative manner.
Please email victoria@DenSchool.com if you would like for us to visit your homeschooling group.
