Alright, I know that Thanksgiving has passed, but I still have to share what our little preschool class did this week.  We are focusing on one letter a week, and then doing activities and snacks that apply.  I taught this week and it was “T is for Turkey”.  Perfect just before Thanksgiving.  There are a lot of great ideas on our Letter Tt and Thanksgiving pinterest boards.

To start off, we turned all the little toddlers into turkeys- gobble, gobble.  They each made their own turkey headband.  It was pretty easy – all you need is brown, yellow, red and orange construction paper and some tape.  Of course, you can make it fancy and add the turkey face, and details, but we wanted the little ones to be able to make their own!  They had a blast.  It was especially sweet watching one of my friends help my two year old while I ran around preparing the next activity.  She was so kind and patient.  She would hand him the feather with tape on it and then wait until he decided where to place it.  I never wait that long – I usually end up slapping the thing on myself! It was humbling and educational to watch another mom with my toddler.

Next – get up and have some fun with Five Little Turkeys.  It was perfect – we actually had five little turkeys attend preschool that day!  Since there was no school, we had some big turkeys too!!

Another great activity is to read I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie.  I used the felt from our other Thanksgiving activity.

And then on for the BIG finish.  Oreo turkeys – YUM!!  They are completely adorable, but a little more than our little ones could manage.  Well, not exactly – they managed just fine eating ALL of the ingredients before we even made them into turkeys.  We had one survivor that made it to the picture stage and here he is…

So even if they did not get a completed turkey – they had a sweet treat!!

Happy Thanksgiving
